Duke of Edinburgh
DofE new season starts every new academic year. During September and October we start recruitment assemblies in the school for those wishing to take part in the Award. We will be targeting Year 10 for Bronze, Year 11 for Silver and Year 12 / 13 for Gold and look forward to having some great new adventures over the coming year.
There are a number of sections to complete the award
Physical - For your physical activity you need to choose any sport, dance or fitness activity – in short, anything that requires a sustained level of energy and physical activity.
Volunteering - Volunteering is about giving time to do something meaningful, motivated by making a difference rather than making money.
Skills - For your skills activity, you need to choose an activity that will allow you to prove you have broadened your understanding and increased your expertise in your chosen skill. It should not be a physical activity.
Expedition - For your Expedition section, you will need to plan, train for and complete an unaccompanied, self-reliant expedition with an agreed aim. You must do the correct training for your level and mode of travel, at least one practice expedition and a qualifying expedition.
Gold Only – Test Expeditions can take part anywhere in the UK. In the past, we have travelled from the Lake District up to the Caledonian Canal in Scotland.
