Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School, and to our website.
We are absolutely determined to provide an exceptional standard of education for every child that comes to our school, so that they have the opportunity to lead happy and successful lives. In order for that to happen, our students need to do two simple things - work hard and be kind.
We are a welcoming and caring school that also has exceedingly high expectations of every single one of our students. We take great pride in enabling them to grow and to flourish.
TRANSITION TO YEAR 7
This year, our transition programme will look a little different for Year 6 pupils joining Monmouth Comprehensive School in September. We have created a ‘Transition Programme Booklet’ for all of our future Year 7 students to use.
The booklet is designed to help you get to know our school and the way it works before you join us in September. Each week there is a different transition focus and ‘Home Learning Task’ set that all include important information about the school.
A hard copy of this booklet will be arriving at your home address shortly. The electronic version may be found by clicking on the link below.
Alongside the booklet, there will be other transition resources and information to assist with your transition, these can be found here, on our school website, and on our Twitter account dedicated to sharing transition information @MCS_transition_ Please follow this account to keep up to date with information and links to the school website.
A Data Collection booklet will be included in the mailing. Please check and amend details, adding anyone else we would need to contact in case of emergency. The booklet then requires a parent and student signature on the first page to agree to the statements. Please post the booklet to school in order for us to have up to date records before September.
There is a Virtual New Entrants’ Transition Evening on 15th June - on this day you will be sent a New Entrants’ Evening booklet and will be informed of your child’s Form group and Form Tutor.
There will also be weekly subject based challenges to get to know areas of learning.
We would love to share the work you complete and communicate with you via our Transition Twitter page, so please do send work, pictures and questions via @MCS_transition_

Dear Parents and Students
Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School
In our school we encourage everyone to have the highest expectations of themselves and each other as together we Learn to Lead our Lives.
We are proud of our students’ academic achievements. Just as importantly, we are a school that cares. We believe that students need to feel comfortable and secure in order to learn and, as a school, we put as much emphasis on creating a supportive and happy environment as we do on academic success. We achieve both.
I look forward to working with you to ensure the very best learning and life for the young people in our care.
