Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School

Dear Parents and Students

Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School

In our school we encourage everyone to have the highest expectations of themselves and each other as together we Learn to Lead our Lives.

We are proud of our students’ academic achievements.  Just as importantly, we are a school that cares.  We believe that students need to feel comfortable and secure in order to learn and, as a school, we put as much emphasis on creating a supportive and happy environment as we do on academic success.  We achieve both.

I look forward to working with you to ensure the very best learning and life for the young people in our care.

News :: Catching up with the Comms Team

12/10/2018

Year Councils took place this week where elections were made to the following councils: School Council, Joint School Council, Eco Council and Food Council.  The Associate School Governors were also elected.  Some very good speeches were given in the election process.

We welcomed 14 Headteachers from Denmark on Thursday, visiting our school to find out about learning at MCS (and admire our new building).

Rehearsals have started for ‘Anything Goes’ – this really looks like another excellent production – ticket details will be announced shortly.  Performance dates are 16/17/18/19  January 2019 (including a Saturday Matinee, at 2pm).

Year 7 Parent-Tutor Meetings take place on Monday 15 October and Thursday 18 October and the Year 12 Parents’ Evening on Wednesday 17 October.

World Mental Health Day on Wednesday saw Briony (Changing Minds) working alongside a range of students on exploring thoughts, feeling and emotions; students summarised these into small messages that were placed on ‘Positivi-tree’ that all students involved in the project had helped create.  Aspects of this project will continue to grow.

Finally, Monday 15 October is Shwmae Day - a National day to celebrate and promote the Welsh language in schools and work places across Wales.   Start every conversation in Welsh – SHWMAE!
