Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School, and to our website.
We are absolutely determined to provide an exceptional standard of education for every child that comes to our school, so that they have the opportunity to lead happy and successful lives. In order for that to happen, our students need to do two simple things - work hard and be kind.
We are a welcoming and caring school that also has exceedingly high expectations of every single one of our students. We take great pride in enabling them to grow and to flourish.
Child Protection is the process by which the school, with other agencies, seeks to protect young people from abuse or neglect. The School has an important part to play, in that all staff have regular contact with children and are, therefore, in a position to observe outward signs or unexplained changes to behaviour or performance that may indicate abuse or neglect.
The procedures on how to deal with cases of Child Protection are set out in the following documents:
Monmouth Comprehensive School Safeguarding Policy
Monmouth Comprehensive School Child Protection Policy
Working together under the Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004
Protecting Children from Abuse: the Role of the Education Service
Welsh Office Circular 52/95 All-Wales Child Protection Procedures
Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
The School has a responsibility to ensure that these procedures are followed and work with other agencies to produce a co-ordinated approach to handling Child Protection.
The Designated Child Protection Officer at Monmouth Comprehensive School is Mr D Williams and the Deputy Designated Child Protection Office is Miss H Page.

Dear Parents and Students
Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School
In our school we encourage everyone to have the highest expectations of themselves and each other as together we Learn to Lead our Lives.
We are proud of our students’ academic achievements. Just as importantly, we are a school that cares. We believe that students need to feel comfortable and secure in order to learn and, as a school, we put as much emphasis on creating a supportive and happy environment as we do on academic success. We achieve both.
I look forward to working with you to ensure the very best learning and life for the young people in our care.
